Motorists have been facing delays on the main through route in and out of Park Gate after a motorcyclist crashed on the M27.
The motorcyclist collided with a barrier on the motorway westbound at the River Hamble bridge –between junctions 9 (Park Gate) and junction 8 (Hamble) at lunchtime today (August 23).
Police are awaiting more details from the scene about the rider involved and cannot confirm if the motorcyclist has been injured.
Traffic tailed back along the A27 (Southampton Road) in Segensworth and Titchfield after the incident, which happened at 12.55pm.
Delays of 30 mins or more for motorists being diverted along the A27 between the two motorway junctions were reported three hours after the incident.
Three fire engines – one from Fareham and two from Hightown – were sent to the scene, but did not take any action. They left the scene at 1.15pm.
A car had also broken down on the motorway near the Hamble junction, adding to traffic problems.
