A fundraiser organised by a Park Gate mother and daughter raised more than £700 for a male suicide charity in memory of their family member who took his own life.
Jasmine Kenney and mother Jacqui Couzens raised £716.52 for the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) in memory of Matthew Couzens who lived in Hill Head and committed suicide aged 26 last September after suffering from depression for many years.
They are still counting the donations coming in after the fundraiser at The Talking Heads in Southampton, which included performances from musicians who live in the Western Wards.
Those performing were DJ-Battre Diminuee, Eagle & Weeks, The Cramatics, Megan McRobbie and Goodnight Jonathan.
“I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone involved: The Talking Heads, the incredibly talented musicians my friends and family for helping out on the night and everyone that turned up,” said Jasmine, 16.
“It was a fantastic evening and couldn’t have happened without the huge support from everyone.
“I am so pleased with the outcome. A night I’ll always remember. A brilliant tribute to Matty. I will definitely be holding more in the future.”
A Zumbathon, held by Jacqui earlier this year, raised £660 and will also be donated to the charity, which has supported the family.
