Pompey teenage defender Dan Butler has signed a new two-year contract with the club.
The 18-year-old left-back – a product of the Blues academy – made his senior debut in last season’s League Cup defeat at Plymouth.
He was sent out on loan to Havant and Waterlooville but became a regular in the Pompey side when he returned to Fratton Park.
He said: “I got a taste of playing first team football in the second half of last season and now I’m looking forward to being involved for a whole season at this club. Getting called back from Havant and Waterlooville and playing 18 games was massive for me and gave me so much experience.
Pompey manager Guy Whittingham said he now wants Butler to build on the impressive start he has made to his Blues career.
