Pumas continued their impeccable start to 2013 with a 10-6 win against Chineham.
The Hampshire Snows Group 2 match was likely to close with both sides sitting in the same area in the table.
The Pumas started strongly and found themselves 5-0 up when James Campbell crossed the line in the corner.
Although they were unable to take full advantage in poor conditions because the conversion drifted just wide.
After the break Chineham made early inroads by scoring three points but were unable to break through the solid Pumas defence.
And with the deteriorating weather the Pumas made their attacks count when a long ball left the Chineham full back exposed and the turnover allowed Joel Stocker to capitalise before sending Julien Beard over the line. (10-3)
Chineham rallied and scored 3 points late on but weren’t again able to better the resolute defensive display of the Pumas.
Overall, not a pretty game but a good battled win for the Pumas who play Solent University next weekend.
