Pompey’s unbeaten run came to a halt last night after a slender 1-0 defeat to Leyton Orient.
Portsmouth had David Connolly in top form after his recent run of goals. But he was unable to capitalise during the game despite the visitors enjoying much of the first half possession.
Jed Wallace on two occasions, was unable to convert, both times coming close.
But just before the hour mark Shaun Batt seized on a poor back pass by Dan Butler and slotted past Simon Eastwood.
That was Batt’s first league goal since moving to the club on loan from Milwall.
The defeat leaves Portsmouth in 23rd place, eight points from safety with eight games remaining.
