Man who stole cash from Locks Heath pensioner hunted

A man who called at the door of an 82-year-old Locks Heath woman before stealing her purse and £100 cash is being sought by police.

The suspect called at the pensioner’s front door in St Michael’s Road between 4pm and 7pm on Wednesday last week (February 13).

The man managed to gain entry to the woman’s house where he stole her blue purse which contained £100 cash.

The suspect is described as:

  • White
  • 35 to 40-years-old
  • Dark hair
  • Medium build
  • 5ft 6 to 5ft 10 tall
  • Local accent
  • Wearing a dark jacket.

Police investigator Jane Dye said: “I would like to speak to anyone who was in the area of St Michael’s Road at the time of this incident and saw anything suspicious.

“Did you see a man running from this direction? Did you receive a knock on your door from an unknown man?

“The stolen purse was dark blue with a tapestry strip down the front. Please hand this into your local station if found.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Police investigator Dye at Gosport police station by phoning 101.
