A schoolgirl was hit by a car in Park Gate this morning (February 12) but escaped the incident without injury.
The girl was walking to school and as she crossed Botley Road in Park Gate, near to the M27 bridge, she was struck by a grey Ford Mondeo.
Police were called to the scene of the collision at 7.51am.
The girl did not suffer any injuries, but was taken to Southampton General Hospital as a precaution to be checked over.
The driver of the car was also uninjured and there was no damage to the vehicle.
The road was blocked for a time after the collision and tailbacks built up to Park Gate in one direction and to Swanwick Lane and through the Whiteley bus bollards in the other direction.
The road was eventually cleared by 8.45am.
