Portsmouth continued their recent poor run of form as they lost 2-0 to Walsall on Friday night.
This game was always going to be a hard contest for the South Coast club as their opponents, Walsall had won three of their last four games.
The first goal came just before the half hour mark when a cross was met by Fabian Brandy who side footed home from just inside the six yard box.
Brandy put in a man of the match performance as he then set up the second 10 minutes later.
The tricky former Manchester United striker found an opening before his shot was saved by Pompey goalkeeper Simon Westood.
Unluckily, the ball fell to Will Gregg who bundled home to double their lead.
Portsmouth failed to make much impact on the game with David Connolly isolated up front.
And it could have been even worse but Will Grigg struck over the bar when he should have added salt into the wound.
Portsmouth now have gone 13 games without a win.
The win means Walsall have won four of their last five games and moved into 14th place. Whilst Portsmouth slipped a place to 22nd in the table and only goal difference separates themselves and Bury who lie in 23rd place.
